Issued procedures and checklists, ready for the management system

Procedures written by people who have stood the watch being described. The failure mode we are correcting is the procedure that is technically correct, comprehensively worded and quietly ignored on board — because it describes work nobody recognises.

In scope

  • Procedures for marine and DP operations, written against the vessel and the operation rather than adapted from a template.
  • Shipboard checklists designed to be used at the point of work, not filed after it.
  • Alignment with the existing management system so the new document does not contradict what is already in force.
  • Shipboard validation: the draft is walked through with the people who will use it, before issue.
  • Revision control and issue documentation ready for the management system.
  • Familiarisation material for the crew where the procedure changes established practice.

Not in scope

  • Auditing, reviewing or verifying the documents we wrote, for the same vessel. This is the boundary that makes the rest of the catalogue mean anything — see the independence note.
  • Holding the DPA or any nominated management system role.
  • Implementation on board, beyond the validation and familiarisation described.
  • Any representation that a written procedure constitutes compliance. A procedure nobody follows is a liability, not a control.

Declared so the conversation happens before the campaign, not in the middle of it.

Deliverables

What you receive

  1. Issued procedures in the client's document format and numbering.
  2. Checklists in a form usable at the point of work.
  3. Validation record from the shipboard walkthrough.
  4. Familiarisation brief where practice changes.
  5. Cross-reference showing where each document sits in the management system.
Scoping

What drives the effort

These move the size of the campaign. None of them moves the standard it is measured against.

These drive effort, not price. Pricing is quoted after the specification call, together with the documents we will need from you.

Independence. The team that writes a document never audits it. Where we have developed a procedure, a manual or a management system for a vessel, we will not later audit, review or verify that same document for that same vessel — the client chooses one role or the other, per vessel, and we say which one we are holding before the scope opens.
