Annual verification that the vessel maintains the capability established by the FMEA and the proving trials, tested over performance, protection and detection. Where the vessel is a MODU, the programme follows IMCA M 191 Rev 1.1 rather than M 190.

In scope

Verification over the three elements of the redundancy concept: performance, that the redundant elements remain sufficient in number and capacity; protection, that common nodes and cross-connections do not propagate failure beyond the WCFDI; detection, that an alarm reveals a compromised redundancy before the second failure arrives.
Execution of the annual programme in the agreed mode — dedicated, cumulative or digital.
Maintenance of the rolling test matrix across the five-year cycle.
Review and update of the ASOG against what the trials found.
Daily debrief on board, so that no finding first appears in the report.

Not in scope

Destructive testing of any kind.
Exploration of failure modes not foreseen in the FMEA. That is a proving trial, and it is bought as one.
Repair or adjustment of equipment found defective during the programme.

Declared so the conversation happens before the campaign, not in the middle of it.
